Harold Thimbleby



is Professor of Computer Science, Swansea University, UK, where he is Director of the Future Interaction Technology Laboratory, FIT Lab. Thimbleby was Royal Society-Wolfson Research Merit Award holder (2001-2005) and has 25 years of international experience in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). He was the first computer scientist to be Gresham Professor of Geometry, and was elected Honorary Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2001 for his research on the web. He won the British Computer Society's Wilkes Medal for work in literate programming in 1987. He has published over 200 refereed papers, and his recent work is summarised in Press On-Principles of Interaction Programming, just published by MIT Press. He has lectured in 21 different countries.
