Maria Chiara Pettenati



is Researcher in the Telematics Laboratory of the Electronics and Telecommunications Department at the University of Florence. She received her Ph.D. in Telematics and Information Society from the University of Florence in 2000 with a dissertation titled “Design and development a web-based environment for teaching and learning”. During her PhD, she spent two years at the Computer Science Department (DI – LITH Laboratory) of the (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) EPFL. Before that, she graduated with Honors in Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Florence in 1996.
Her main research interests are related to two interdisciplinary perspectives of the emerging Web Science research roadmap: the transition from the Web of Documents to a Web of iter-Linked Data towards a truly Cooperative Read-Write Web; 2) Web technologies, tools, methods and competencies to support effective and efficient Lifelong Learning and Personal Knowledge Management.
