Matthias Jarke



received his doctoral degree in Hamburg University. After that he worked as an asisstant/associate professor in Passau University where he later headed a chair. Since 1991 Matthias Jarke has been leading the information systems chair at RWTH Aachen University. He is also executive director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (FIT), and Chairman of the Fraunhofer ICT Group, with 19 institutes and over 4.000 employees the largest ICT research organization in Europe. Matthias Jarke is founding director of the Bonn-Aachen International Graduate Center for Information Technology (B-IT) , a joint institute by RWTH Aachen, the University of Bonn, and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. He also served as President of the German Informatics Society (GI) from 2004-2007. Matthias Jarke is the author of numerous publications in international, peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings and serve in many editorial boards. He has been a program chair of several international conferences in the information systems area (VLDB, EDBT, CAiSE) and was European Chief Editor of the journal „Information Systems'.
