Thomas Kohler



is Professor for Educational Technology at the Institute for Vocational Education of Dresden University of Technology since 2005. He has studied at Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena (Germany) and Swarthmore College (USA) and holds degrees in psychology and sociology. He has received his Ph.D. in communications psychology from FSU Jena in 1999. He is also Director of the Media Centre, one of the key Educational Technology-R&D-centres in Germany. Since 2007 he is head of the E-Learning Task Force of the Saxonian Rectors conference, which steers the media development especially in the academic sector in Saxony and runs the largest academic E-Learning platform Germany under the label Education Portal Saxony. In 2012 he has been elected as President of the International Society of Media in Science which covers researchers and practitioners, who deal with E-Learning and E-Science, from Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
